Homework:

1. Prepare for your presentation. Practice your presentation a few times before you are to present. Look at the rubric on the course website to help you.
2. Your final assignment! You need to write a second reflection. This is worth 2.5% of your grade. The instructions are on the course website too. Please turn in the reflection on compass. I will NOT grade for grammar, but please do not be lazy or sloppy. Name the document netIDReflection2.doc or .rtf. The reflection is due May 8th by midnight.

I changed the topic for class today. Many of you seem to have difficulty with visual aids, so let's discuss how to make a good powerpoint or prezi.

Here are a few examples of good powerpoints:

3. Three- Thirst

Now, use this handout to critique your powerpoint. What is missing? What is good?
Next, have someone else look at your powerpoint using a second sheet.

• In groups, tell me what makes a presentation interesting and what makes a presentation boring. Why? Write your reasons on the board

• Next, which of these youtube videos has the worst presentation?

• Now, let's look at a good presentation

• Finally, in groups practice introducing yourself. Say...
• Your name
• Major
• Reason for studying that major
• What you rather be doing instead of ESL 111 (not sleeping)
• Critique each other with these questions:
1. Did the presenter seem confident?
2. Did the presenter speak loudly enough?
3. Could you understand the presenter?
4. Did the presenter show good body language?
